ABOUT THE MODEL
Soft Commodities
Soft Commodities is a trend-following model trading coffee, sugar, cocoa and cotton. Weather, harvests and shifts in supply and demand can influence these agricultural markets and sometimes generate prolonged price trends.
The model is not a bet on rising agricultural commodity prices. It follows actual price movements and can take long positions in uptrends and short positions in downtrends. The objective is to participate when an existing trend continues.
Because Soft Commodities is limited to four related commodity markets, extended periods without clear trends can be difficult. It provides specialized exposure to agricultural commodities and may complement a broader model such as Hot Commodities.
